Bolloré BlueCar launch

Bolloré BlueCar ready to be launched

Unveiled at the Geneva show last year, the Bollore BlueCar is ready to be rolled out, though at an estimated price of $23,800.

GENEVA

The Bolloré Group, through its subsidiary BatScap, has introduced a road-ready prototype of its BlueCar lithium-ion electric city car to the Geneva Motor Show 2006. It was revealed as a concept at last year’s Geneva show. According to the company, the BlueCar is a concept car designed around a battery.

The Bollore BlueCar has a range of 155 miles, a top speed of 78 mph for an autonomy of around 200 km (124 miles). The BlueCar accelerates to 60 kmh (37 mph) in 6.3 seconds and takes six hours to recharge fully. And it looks a little like a bubble, but the environmentally conscious are used to weird shapes, aren't they?

The company plans to build six more BlueCar prototypes this year. The Bollore Group will also invest in a production site capable of producing 10,000 battery systems a year. The company is in talks with car makers to create a mass produced model. If produced, the car would cost around $23,800.
