Yamaha announces Rs 3 billion investment, three motorcycles

Invesmtment finvestment, alright alright. What we don't like is that there is not much information available about the three motorcycles.

NEW DELHI

Over the next two years, Yamaha Motorcycles said, that it would invest Rs 3 billion or approx USD 68 million) in India. The investment would be for product development and the company's expansion plans in India.

That's all alright - but do we know much about the three motorcycles the company is planning to launch in that period? Nope. We guess they would be just everyday commuter motorycyles, with better engines, fuel economy, whatever. Better fuel economy or not, there are no paradigm-shifters there.

Apart from showing off some of their motorcycles and scooters which may never make it to India, one wonders why some of these companies participate in the Auto Expo. After all, what better way to get free publicity and coverage on all television channels? Oops, they are there to strike deals. Well, good luck to them on their future launches, we are not impressed.
