SUPER AGURI F1 TEAM NEWS

Takuma sato was already confirmed, and now Yuji Ide, a former Formula Nippon driver, has been confirmed for the second race seat at Super Aguri.

15 February 2006

In 1990, a proud Aguri Suzuki climbed the podium. After 14 years, Takuma Sato too stood on the podium at the 2004 US Grand Prix.

Those were proud moments for Japan. Takuma Sato had a pretty dismal year in 2005, he hopes to shake off all that and look forward in 2006. Joining him will be Yuji Ide, this making Super Aguri an all-Japanese team. Sato ahs so far raced in 50 F1 races, and so will be the senior member of the team.

Yuji Ide will test the car in the third week of February at Barcelona. The strengths and weaknesses of the old Arrows chassis may show up then - and the results could be a big surprise, and it could go either way.

Yuji Ide has been racing since 1990, and the now 30-year old driver has so far raced in:

2005 All Japan Championship Formula Nippon Series
Formula Nippon
Super GT Series
GT500 Class Series
French Formula 3All Japan GT Championship GT300 Class
All Japan F3 Championship

Super Aguri will race in 2006 on the chassis that was formerly Arrows'. recently, it passed all the crash tests and thus proved that it can technically race in this year's F1.

Engines for Super Aguri are supplied by Honda, and the car will run on Bridgestone tyres.
