The Lakme India Fashion Week that was kickstarted on tuesday, brought together the pros--Manish Malhotra, Wendell Rodricks, Rocky S, Ashish Soni, Anshu Arora Sen, and Priyadarshini Rao and the newbies like Surily Goel, Sonam Dubal, Bennu Sehgal, and Maheka Mirpuri.

On the first day, Surily Goel made her debut with the theme 'Romance Personified'. Surily displayed shells as tassels and beaded belts and rose motifs for tie-ups. Her collection was made in fabrics like georgette, lace, and crochet and satin. Malaika Arora Khan, Neelam, and Salman Khan walked the ramp for her much to the audience's delight.

Rocky S's "Lolita" collection was in hues of pink, cherry red and forest green, embellished with gold. John Abraham walked the ramp for Rocky S to a frenzied response.

Karan Johar was emcee for Manish Malhotra's show and Kajol and Preity Zinta walked the ramp. Manish's collection was titled "Freedom". Manish's all-white, all crochet-and-lace collection was inspired by Sufism. Mughal-inspired Kurtas with slim 'ijars' was what the designer had to offer.
