Google Adsense targeting often goes a bit awry.
But that is supposed to happen to new sites, or when Google sees a new page or site for the first time, and takes some time to ‘get’ what the page is all about.
But propeller.com? Look at this ad, smack in the middle of their page. Apparently Google thinks propeller.com is a social media related to boating, we think!

Just goes to show how “loose” Google’s broad match is.

Pretty funny example and an interesting find definitely but I think it has a very simple explanation: Propeller simply does not offer lots of context to the links and votes so Google has problems identifying what the content actually is. So maybe it’s more of a problem with Propeller tags that they have chosen for the site themselves when configuring the account for Adsense.

To be fair, there is also the slight chance that the AdWords advertiser himself was a bit clueless, and choose Propeller.com for site targeting.
