Harry Potter final book: Rowling gets down to work

Six-time champion Harry Potter may meet his end at the hands of JK Rowling. With a little help from Lord Voldemort.

The final Harry Potter book in the wizard series may not have a happy ending. JK Rowling, author of the Hogwarts thriller series is expecting to have a busy year in 2006, authoring and finetuning the runaway hit that is Harry Potter. According to informal surveys conducted by Harry potter fan websites, the majority believes that charming boy wizard will die as he takes on evil in the final battle.

The last Harry Potter book to come out of JK Rowling's creativity factory was Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which like its predecessors, enchanted readers across the world. It was released in the summer of 2005.

Rowling admits that she starts the final Harry Potter book with "excitement and dread." She hopes to answer all the unanswered questions in the Harry Potter series with this last book. Rowling herself expresses doubts if she will be able to answer all the questions. "Yet, it will all be over at last and I can't quite imagine life without Harry Potter," Rowling said in a jotting on her website. It has been rumoured that the boy wizard Harry Potter will meet his death in an epic battle with Lord Voldemort. 

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," sold over 10 million copies in the US alone. Put together, all Harry Potter books have sold over 300 million copies. Rowling said she has going been going through the story plan of the seventh Harry Potter book in the last few weeks. She said "reading through the plan is like contemplating the map of an unknown country in which I will soon find myself." The name of the final Harry Potter book has not been given yet. Actual writing work on the last Harry Potter starts next month. The final Harry Potter book launch date is expected around Summer 2006.

First book: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Second book: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Third book; Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Fourth book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Fifth book: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Sixth book: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Seventh book: Unnamed so far
