Brad Pitt, Soledad O'Brien, Rick Warren win Newsweek Award

Brad Pitt is part of Newsweek's "15 People Who Make America Great."

MUMBAI, INDIA

Brad Pitt was on the list of the recent "15 People Who Make America Great" feature by Newsweek. The others on the list included CNN anchor Soledad O'Brien and author Rick Warren (The Purpose Driven Life.)

Benita Singh, an Indian-American girl from Yale, and Ruth DeGolia were chosen as part of the "15 People Who Make America Great" for their work on the rehabilitation of poor women artisans in Guatemala.


They were chosen from hundreds of nominations for imaginative approaches to difficult problems by Newsweek.

Brad Pitt was chosen for using his star status to highlight neglected issues in Africa. Soledad O'Brien was chosen for his reporting on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Recently, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had sold the first picture of their baby daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to People magazine for a reported $4 million US. All proceeds of the sale was donated to charities.
