MUMBAI, INDIA

Will Smith is now going to star in Columbia Pictures' romantic drama Seven Pounds. The movie revolves around a man who falls in love with a woman while attempting to kill himself.

The scriptwriter of the film is Gran Nieporte of 8 Simple Rules, Sabrina, The Teenage Witch fame. So far no director is helming the film.
James Lassiter will produce the film.

After Hitch, the next Will Smith movie to hit theatres will be Columbia's Pursuit of Happyness in December, directed by Gabriele Muccino. Smith will then commence shooting for Warner Bros' I Am Legend, which will be released in July 2007. The movie will be directed by Francis Lawrence and is based on Richard Matheson's classic sci-fi novel. In the movie, Smith will take on a breed of nocturnal mutants.

Smith is also set to star in Columbia's Tonight, He Comes, a movie about a superhero (Will Smith) who crash-lands in a small town and falls in love with a local housewife. The director Muccino has dropped out of the film. Consequently, the film has been delayed to a 2007 start date.
