MOTOROLA RAZR Z SLIDER PHONE IN KOREA
Motorola launches RAZR Z slider phone in Korea
Motorola follows up the V3, V3i, V3c and V3x with a RAZR Z slim slider
cellphone for the Korean market.
9 February 2006
SEOUL, KOREA

To begin with, let us tell you that we have not seen this phone so far. Right now, the Motorola RAZR Z is available only in Korea, where the local unit of Motorola developed it. The RAZR Z follows the same design philosophy of the best-seller Motorola RAZR - it looks almost exactly the same as the RAZR which is a clamshell phone, and at first look, one may mistake it for the L6 or L7 SLVR phones - till you notice that it is a slider. There have been rumors of a Motorola RAZR slider mobile phone for a long time, and now it is here.
Motorola RAZR Z mobile specifications
Thickness: 14.8 mm
Display size: 2.2-inch display
Camera and resolution: 1.3 megapixel camera
Music playback: Yes, MP3 player
Video playback: yes
We hope that the trocious glare which makes it almost impossible to read the display in the RAZr V3 is gone now.
The 1.3 megapixel camera on the Motorola RAZR Z is nothing revolutionary; however, compared to the original RAZR's measly VGA camera, it certainly can give you pictures that you can at least view on a screen without being embarassed.
Music playback is using an mp3 player - the SLVR L7 has iTunes built in, we believe. So if this is Motorola's old mp3 player, a new mp3 player or the iTunes player -- we don't have the foggiest idea but if asked to guess, we would say its the old mp3 we have come to hate in the RAZR V3. But the RAZR V3 hardly had any built in memory, so it was practically useless anyway. No word yet on the memory specifications of the Motorola RAZR Z. Flash memory or SD cards could possibly find their way into this phone.
The Motorola RAZR Z slider mobile phone will initially be available only in Korea at a price of 500,000 and 600,000 won ($516-$619) from SK telecom. To buy the Motorola RAZR Z in the US or in India, we will have to wait for a while.
Motorola is currently the world’s second-largest cell phone vendor.
