SAMSUNG SGH I310 MOBILE PHONE

Samsung to launch 8-GB SCG-i310 mobile phone

In a bid to satisfy consumers looking for high functionality in their phones, Samsung plans to launch the SGH-i310, an 8-GB mobile phone.

7 March 2006
SEOUL, KOREA

Samsung is planning to launch a smartphone with an 8-GB hard drive called SGH-i310. These phones will be rolled out in European markets in the second half of 2006. The handset of the SGH-i310 is similar to an earlier Samsung phone, the i300, that came out last year.

The Samsung i310 is targeted at digital-music lovers. The new phone will have a music player, amplifier, and Bluetooth wireless capabilities. The phone also will sport a digital camera, printing capabilities, and a video-out connection.

Because consumers are increasingly using their cell phones to play videos, swap pictures, and listen to music, companies like Samsung eagerly swoop on the opportunity here and provide the high-level functionality such activities require. As the fourth Samsung phone to include a hard disk, the i310 is an indication of a major new direction for the company, which is likely to keep increasing storage capacity to meet consumer need.

Samsung is expected to detail more features of the i310 at the upcoming CeBIT computer show in Hanover, Germany.
