Think travelling by train in India is reasonably safe? Fat chance. Women get raped in trains in India, all the time. Its time we admitted to our shame.
And this is going to continue too. Sometimes, its a passenger who rapes someone. Sometimes its dacoits. Sometimes, its cops or security men. There have even been gang rapes in Indian trains. Here are the latest.

Armed men storm train, rape woman

Visisha, Bhopal, India: A group of armed men stormed the Mumbai-Lucknow Pushpak Express on Wednesday night and threw three passengers out of the train before raping a woman near Vidisha, about 60 km from Bhopal, police said on Thursday.
Eight to ten attackers armed with knives and other weapons who boarded the train in Bhopal, went on a looting spree and beat up passengers in the general compartment when the train approached Vidisha around midnight, Government Railway Police said.
The gang members also dragged a woman into the toilet and raped her, they said adding that the attackers pulled the emergency chain as the train approached a station and fled.

KIKRAJHAR, India: Four persons were killed and three others injured in mayhem at the Salakati Railway Station in Assam's Kokrajhar district over alleged rape and molestation of girl students by travelling security personnel inside a moving train from Delhi.
He said a group of girls had boarded the 4056 Up Delhi-Guwahati Brahmaputra Mail at Gossaigaon Railway Station to participate in the Inter-College Youth Festival here when some of them were allegedly raped and molested by security personnel who were travelling to Diphu for training.
