Gin drinkers have something new to toast. Juniper Green, distilled at Thames distillery in London, is claiming to be the world's first and only organic gin. Made with organic grain, water and organic botanical herbs including organic juniper berries, organic coriander, organic angelica root and organic savory, the product uses no chemical fungicides, even for storage of the organic grain.

The Soil Association of the UK has certified that the gin is 100% organic. The company claims that grain grown without the help of chemical fungicides results in natural microorganisms, which aid full and deep fermentation, leading to a superior biological cell structure, and better alcohol.

The gin has won several awards, including the gold medal at the 2003 International Wine and Spirit Competition and the silver medal at the 2004 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

A review of the organic gin on The Guardian praised the product saying it packed a punch despite being only 37.5%, and was reasonably priced.

A dash of lime, ice, and 1/3 of Juniper Green topped up with chilled Tonic is the suggested recipe. It is advised that the organic gin is not chilled as it would lead to a reduction in effervescence.
