Mumbai police gets tips on handling tourist problems

MUMBAI, INDIA
Mumbai police has undergone an intensive 1-day course on tourist handling at Kuoni Academy of Travel's Churchgate branch. The course was aimed at sensitizing the police to the specific problems foreign tourists might face, and equip them to provide various kinds of required assistance.
40 tourist police force personnel were educated on special needs of domestic and international tourists, destination welcome and a customer care, various stages of tourist visit, nature of problems encountered by tourists, complaint management system, practical tips for handling and resolving complaints and the role of the police force in the dissemination of information to the tourists.
Case studies based on real life incidents were also analyzed.
Mr AK Bhatia- Director of Education, Kuoni Academy of Travel said, "This is a landmark step taken by the authorities and it will go a long way in making Mumbai more tourist friendly. According to figures available 40% of the tourist those who travel in India visit Mumbai. Historically if you see, tourist satisfaction is the best form of promotion/ advertising for the state and the country." In addition, he said that, "KAT's endeavor is to impart international best practices in travel policing to the participants."
