MUMBAI, INDIA
 Twenty one contestants vied
for the crown, and it was finally Trina Chakravarty from USA who was crowned Miss India Worldwide 2006.
A first year student at the University of Florida, Trina is fluent in
English, French and Bengali. Her mother Aparna was Miss India New York in
1982.
NRIs from several countries competed for the crown. The contest was held in Mumbai, India. Beauties from Canada, South Africa and even Mozambique were represented in the pageant.
The contest was judged by former Miss India Universe Amrita Thapar, producer-director Deepak Tijori, ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas, actress Suman Ranganathan and TV anchor Shweta Kawatra among others.
The outgoing Miss India Worldwide 2005, reshoo Pande, crowned Trina
Chakravarty.
The runner up in the contest was Nikki Rana from UK. Charlene Asgarali of Netherlands came second runner-up in the beauty contest.
New York-based NRI Dharmatma Saran organised the event.
