22nd November,2005: Now television programs can be downloaded to iPods. The US personal video recorder leader, Tivo will introduce a software using which users can download TV programs to their iPods.

The new software from Tivo will be a big help for those who want their favourite TV programs to be seen on their iPods. Tivo is planning to introduce the software early next year.

Apple has introduced video iPods along with a deal with Disney to download Desperate Housewives and Lost for $1.99 per episode.

Now, with the introduction of Tivo software, users can have the freedom of downloading any program to their iPods.

The expected price for the Tivo software service is between $20 - $30.

Tivo has already launched TivoTogo, using which contents can be downloaded to their laptops. Also, Tivo plans to have a similar service for Sony's PSP games console.

Transferring a TV program to an iPod is not very easy. Programmes first have to be downloaded from a PVR, then onto a PC, before they can be converted into a format that plays on the iPod.

This move by Tivo is seen as the next step in its expansion of download services.
