Xerox expanding business in Indian market

Leading document management company Xerox has plans to add 150 channel partners in India to make their product more visible. The company hopes that with 150 more channel partners it could substantially increase its share in Indian market. It has also plans to invest twenty crore rupees this year on marketing and promotion of its product range in Indian market. With an aim to increase market penetration, company has introduced a wide range of new printers in a global launch kicked off from India. These products will be also available in 162 other markets all over the world.

According to Xerox India Office Director Princy Bhatnagar the new channel partners in India are added mainly to target the IT channel space. The company is investing Rs 20 crore in 2008 on marketing and geographic expansion with a focus on small and medium business. Now Xerox has around 350 channel partners in India. Last year its marketing and promotional budget in Indian market was around Rs 15 crore.

Xerox Desktop Multifunction and Printer Business vice president and general manager Unit Carl Bothner has also reiterate importance of Indian market in coming years. “India is a strategic market for Xerox Corporation and the launch here is a perfect kick off to our global product launch,” he said.

Xerox has given shape for an ambitious plan for the tier II and tier III markets to accelerate the market penetration in the SMB space. It will soon roll out a multi-city roadshow across top 15 non-metro cities to showcase Xerox’s newly launched products to channel partners and customers across India.
According to a report by market research firm AMI Partners, India will be the fastest growing major market in the Asia Pacific, with IT spending set to increase more than 20 per cent in 2008 to 9.7 billion dollars.
